CAR WASH Magazine Live™ Launches

International Carwash Association has launched CAR WASH Magazine Live, a weekly broadcast focused on bringing the car wash community together through the power of entertainment and storytelling.

In the wake of COVID-19, ICA created the weekly program to give the industry a place to come together and get ideas and information about how to navigate the pandemic. The goal, from the beginning, was always to evolve the program into a show focused on the car wash industry and the great stories within.

“I have the unique opportunity to hear a ton of great car wash stories in my work with the Magazine,” said Editor-In-Chief and Host Matt DeWolf. “And my goal is always to share those stories with as many people as possible to bring our industry together.”

The show itself continues to evolve. The first four episodes featured a panel-style discussion, well-suited for the immediate response to the pandemic. It quickly evolved to a more entertainment and education styled format with high-end graphics and content focused on keeping the car wash industry informed.

“We watched sentiment very closely in terms of when to shift the program focus away from 100% COVID-19,” said ICA Chief Content Officer Claire Moore. “We’re staying flexible and keeping ourselves ready to tell the stories that are most important to our industry.”

The first episode under the new format, Episode 5, featured the hero we deserve and not the hero we asked for, according to one viewer comment during the program. What was in Episode 5? A light-hearted, but sensible interview with John Roush, CEO at Express Wash Concepts, featured cow mascots and innovative uses for existing products during COVID-19.

“It’s been a great way for me to stay current and in contact with friends,” said President of Speedy Car Wash Jimmy Branch. “It’s like a small dose of The Car Wash Show™ each week.”

The show format features several different segments each week. Viewers are invited to submit their own user content in a variety of formats. From recording responses to questions and submitting at carwash.org/vidquest to sending in photos and videos of washes to best car wash jokes, there’s a little bit of everything in the show.

“A dose of car wash nutrition every operator needs,” Branch said. “You get news, industry stats, operator tours and corny jokes. Matt DeWolf is the Jimmy Kimmel of car washing.”
“We’re focusing on being able to keep this show fresh and fun and true to the industry,” DeWolf said. “We want to share stories, bring new ideas and segments, keep people smiling and remind people of what they love about this industry.”
