THE STORY

Moo Moo Express opened its first wash in February 2008 by John Roush and his partners. “I got interested in car washes after the local wash I used was shut down,” says Roush. “I didn’t know anything about how it worked but that it was fast and did a nice job.” Roush always knew his community needed a wash, and was intrigued by the architecture of farms and barns. Thus, the Moo Moo Express Car Wash brand was born.

But, why “Moo Moo?” Roush notes that it wasn’t too far a stretch to go from a barn concept to the name. “What’s in a barn? Cows,” Roush says. “What do cows say? ‘Moo!’”

Like most people, Roush laughs when he says the name, and concedes that people thought he was a bit crazy naming a multi-million dollar car wash investment “Moo Moo.” However, the business was bound to succeed due to the its great retail experience and roadside visibility.

“We wanted to create a great experience for our customers,” Roush says. And to do so, Roush and his partners invested in full water reclamation systems, VFD technology for their big motor loads, high pressure chemical dosing and pretty much anything else that would make their machine more efficient. After researching the market, Roush and his partners chose Macneil as their core equipment supplier and have never looked back.

Moo Moo Express Car Wash currently operates eight wash locations and one quick lube location with over 50 customer-service oriented employees. The car wash is ramping up its 9th location to be ready this summer, and are working on site selection and zoning for their 10th and 11th locations.

THE MISSION

Moo Moo Express Car Wash strives to give a great wash, but, as Roush admits, most operators can do that. At Moo Moo, however, the main emphasis is on customer experience. “We want our customers to go away with all five senses happy,” Roush says. “Our beautifully landscaped buildings, great colored foam show, super fragrances, soft music playing in the background and a great soft wash is what we are all about!”
