The WCA was excited to once again be the exclusive host of education sessions tailored specifically for self-serve operators at this year’s Car Wash Show. WCA is proud to represent close to 200 self-serve operators throughout the 12 western states that WCA’s membership spans and prides itself in being one of the only associations that supports self-serve operators through a number of educational events and membership benefits unique to that subset of the industry.

The Car Wash Show’s educational sessions were kicked-off with an hour-long panel discussion moderated by WCA President and self-serve operator Marla Mayer of Weiss Guys Express in Arizona. Panelists included Sydney King, The Good Spray Car Wash, Utah; Jerry Nix, Speedi Car Wash, Washington; and Scott Thomas, Clean Spot Car Wash, Washington. With more than 80 self-serve operators in attendance, the panel addressed a number of hot topics facing the industry from security cameras to the latest products, the discussion was a lively exchange of ideas.

The panel discussion was followed by a series of fast-paced educational roundtables providing operators the chance to hear about hot topics, products and industry trends of specific interest to them. The roundtable sessions included:

  • Social Media Tips for Promoting Your Self-Serve – Sydney King, Social5
  • Video Surveillance Cameras & Insurance – Rick Diehl, Turbo Wash DVR & Sam Furno, Western Carwash Insurance Program
  • Bill Changer Maintenance – Les Tipping, Hamilton Manufacturing
  • Vacuum Maintenance – Kraig Snyder and John Fetters, J.E. Adams
  • Credit Card Processing – David Wilcox, WashGear

On Friday, the self-serve education concluded with a presentation by Heath Pomerantz of Diamond Shine Carwash Solutions, presenting on the topic, How to Keep Your Self-Serve Competitive.
