Sonny’s CarWash College, an educational learning resource for car wash operators, is excited to announce the annual 2024 Instructor, Tech Specialist, and Rookie of the Year award winners.

Tyler Davidson was awarded Sonny’s CarWash College Instructor of the Year. At a luncheon, Mr. Davidson was presented the Shawn R. Brown Award for Instructional Excellence by Bob Fox, SVP of Sonny’s Enterprises LLC.

“Tyler is a natural when it comes to instructing,” said Fox. “He puts the students instantly at ease and encourages them throughout the training. Tyler was awarded the Rookie of the Year award in 2023, and now, with another year of instructing under his belt, he has taken his instruction to another level. He is a very worthy recipient.”

Previous winners include Ruben Guerrero, Victor Alonso, Richard Ovalles, Luis Hernandez, Nick Kerns, Mike Berlin, and Jorge Jaramillo.

Sonny’s CarWash College Rookie of the Year award was presented to Ben Martin.

“Although not technically a “rookie,” Ben started instructing full-time in 2024. His 20-plus years of field experience and calm demeanor make him a natural when dealing with students. Ben has a very bright future at Sonny’s CarWash College,” added Fox.

A new award was added to the ceremony this year. “For several years now, we have recognized the Sonny’s CarWash College instructors, but instructing is only a part of their roles at Sonny’s. They are also the Tech Support agents that help customers troubleshoot equipment, and they often go unrecognized. That changes today. I proudly announce Jorge Jaramillo as the inaugural winner of the “Sonny Fazio Award for Technical Expertise.”

“Jorge Jaramillo has spent fourteen years sharing his know-how as a CarWash College instructor and Technical Team Lead. He’s helped countless car wash owners and operators level up their maintenance game and ensures all his students are equipped with the proper tools to succeed,” concluded Fox.
