Learn Leadership That Connects

Written by Admin | Oct 2, 2019 5:00:00 AM

For the 2nd annual Women’s Leadership Experience, International Carwash Association is partnering with Second City Works for an all-new communications workshop. There’s no audience in this improv-based workshop, just a collection of peers invested in helping each other grow and getting better at the things they do every day.

If you’re interested in learning more about how creativity can transform businesses and professionals, check out the Second City Works podcast. In “Getting to Yes, And,” Kelly Leonard, Executive Director of Insights + Applied Improvisation, talks to visionary writers and thinkers who use creativity to challenge conventional business approaches. Recent guests include human capital entrepreneur Caroline Stokes and best-selling author Brené Brown.

Do you learn best by doing? You can get hands on with this revolutionary new way of learning at the Women’s Leadership Experience in Chicago this November. This event is for the women of the car washing industry—and ANYONE who supports them, so if your interest is piqued, you’re welcome to join!

Last week we told you about the opening session for the day-long workshop, but there’s so much more to the experience. After getting familiar with improvisation and feeling more confident, participants move into a breakout called “Breaking Through Bias & Creating a Dream Culture.”

In this breakout, the topic shifts from observing your own communications to focusing on others. Participants will engage in a series of exercises designed to examine the impact of their actions on others and consider how even the smallest behaviors can shape the culture around you. How can your tone affect your audience? What can you do to make sure people around you are actively engaging and feeling heard?

The exercises include role playing challenging workplace situations that will feel familiar—how do you handle a coworker who always interrupts you? What about asserting your worth to a boss or supervisor? How do you take responsibility for mistakes without devaluing yourself?

For more on the rest of the workshop, stay tuned to CAR WASH News. But if these sound like skills you want to build—and you love to laugh—visit www.carwash.org/wle and get registered, as this event is expected to sell out.
