Hanley Investment Group Rides into its 14th Year of Fundraising with “Saddle Up for Movember”

November 1, 2024

Hanley Investment Group has raised more than $368,000 for Movember, the leading global charity dedicated to changing the face of men's health in the U.S. and around the world.

Hanley Investment Group Real Estate Advisors, a nationally recognized real estate brokerage and advisory firm specializing in retail property sales, is excited to announce the kickoff of its annual Movember campaign, themed “Saddle Up for Movember.” This year marks Hanley Investment Group’s 14th consecutive year of growing mustaches throughout November to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. With their “Saddle Up for Movember” theme, the group hopes to rope in support from all of their colleagues, family, and friends to raise awareness for men’s health in November. Since 2011, Hanley Investment Group has raised more than $368,000 for these vital causes.

Movember is the leading charity dedicated to changing the face of men's health in the U.S. and around the world. Since 2003, Movember has raised over $1.5 billion for men’s health, funding global breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment. Best known for its annual fundraising campaign every November, Movember accepts donations year-round. Participants begin clean-shaven on November 1 and spend the month grooming and trimming their mustaches, effectively becoming walking, talking billboards for men’s health. Women, known as “Mo Sistas,” also join in the fundraising efforts.

“The mustache is a powerful upper-lip accessory,” says Ed Hanley, president of Hanley Investment Group. “A well-groomed mustache commands attention and can initiate lifesaving conversations.”

Hanley adds, “At Hanley Investment Group, we enjoy a culture of camaraderie and competition, so we plan to show off our mustache progress on Facebook and LinkedIn – or, in some cases, the lack of progress due to being 'follicly challenged.’ We say, ‘Power to the ‘Mo!’”

He continues, “It feels good to make a difference in our community and across the world, and we hope together that we can stop men from dying too young.”

Hanley lost his father to prostate cancer in 2009, and Movember gives him and the Hanley Investment Group team a chance to give back to the community and build awareness for men’s mental and physical health.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men over 45, with more than 1.4 million men being diagnosed each year, according to Movember. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15 to 34. In the U.S., the rate of male suicide is alarmingly high: approximately four in five suicides are men, underscoring the urgent need for awareness and support. Movember funds groundbreaking projects focused on these issues, aiming to create a future where men live happier, healthier lives.

To support the cause, Ed Hanley and Nathan Holthouser, president of Coastal Commercial, will co-host a fundraising evening on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at Muldoon’s Irish Pub in Newport Beach, California. A portion of the bar sales from the night will be donated to Movember. The event will feature guest bartending by Hanley, Holthouser, and Lounge Group’s Mario Marovic, who was awarded the 2022 Newport Chamber’s Business Person of the Year. The Lounge Group is a leading Orange County food and beverage consulting firm that owns and operates various Orange County establishments, such as the Wild Goose Tavern, The Country Club, and Muldoon’s Irish Pub.
