Commit to Confident Communication

For the 2nd annual Women’s Leadership Experience, International Carwash Association is partnering with Second City Works for an all-new communications workshop. In spite of the name it’s not about performing—there’s no audience, just a collection of peers who are invested in helping each other grow. Rather, it’s about helping people get better at the things they do every day.

There’s a ton of research behind their theory that learning works best when you’re laughing. In 2017, Second City Works launched the Second Science Project with the Center for Decision Research at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Their findings are fascinating, and include insights about how to make “thank you” more meaningful, listening more deeply, and much more.

Through this partnership, ICA is giving car washers a chance to tap into this revolutionary new way of learning leadership and communication skills at the Women’s Leadership Experience in Chicago this November. This event is for the women of the car washing industry—and ANYONE who supports them, so read on if your interest is piqued!

The day-long workshop begins with a deep dive into Confident and Collaborative Communication called “Improvise This.” Participants will get up and moving right away with an ice breaker to make the basic tenets of improvisation make sense. There’s no wrong answers, no audience, and the instructors will set the tone for a supportive environment.

During the rest of “Improvise This,” participants will learn a variety of skills through a sequence of exercises that put communications concepts into practice right away. You’ll learn to reserve judgment and listen actively; step past your discomfort and into a shared creativity where you can build on others’ ideas; and confidently adapt your language and delivery in the moment.
