On July 24, 2024, ICA Past President Stuart Mandel passed away.

An active part of the car wash community for decades, Mandel owned Gas House Car Washes. He loved being in the car wash business, and when he wasn’t officially working, he enjoyed spending time washing cars and talking about cars with his fellow car washers. So, for those who knew him, it came as no surprise that this enthusiasm and knowledge were recognized by International Carwash Association in 1980, when he received the Distinguished Service Award.

He served in the United States Army, graduated from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) and attended Washington University. His term as president of ICA was in 1995.
